An Eagle Sitting Atop “We Are Not Descended From Fearful Men!”
We need to bring Edward Murrow’s words of 1954 back into the conversation today! His warning at that time wasn’t just about McCarthyism and the fear of communism – it was about the greater danger of allowing fear to shape our nation’s soul. That speech was a call to courage, to reason, and to our foundational American belief in liberty – even when it's uncomfortable or unpopular.
The line in Murrow’s speech "we are not descended from fearful men" is more than just a quote – it’s a challenge to every American. It reminds us that our Founders didn’t shrink from conflict or controversy. They didn’t wait for permission to speak their minds. They stood up, stepped forward, and stared down tyranny with determination and principle.
It is once again time for American patriots to remember this. We live in an age where too many are tempted to yield to fear – fear of speaking out, fear of offending, fear of being cancelled, fear of standing alone. But fear never built anything worth preserving. It was boldness, conviction, and sacrifice that forged this nation. And it will take that same spirit to preserve it.
So remember… We are not descended from fearful men! We are descended from those who:
Stood their ground,
Spoke their minds,
Fought for their convictions,
And did not bend a knee to unjust authority.
Let’s remember that. And more importantly – let’s live it!
True patriots like yourself, similar to first responders or military service members, are all heroes because they love, support, and defend America and its interests. They are not simply a product of their upbringing or environment. But rather, they have made a deliberate commitment to America and its ideals. Help us celebrate these patriotic heroes – they deserve our praise and admiration.
