First responders, or who we refer to as our Local Heroes, put their lives on the line as they are the first to react when an emergency occurs. So, how can you say thanks for their amazing service? Displaying or gifting a Local Hero flag is one of the ways to show your appreciation and respect for those that sacrifice their lives to save ours.
The national Local Hero flag is mostly black and white, which is in stark contrast to the original flamboyant Old Glory. The reason for this would be that black represents chaos or the lack of order, while white stands for completely the opposite. So, the starkness between black and white represents the eternal battle between light and dark, or between order and chaos.
And in that battle, certain colors represent professions that prevail to make this world a safer and better place.
Who is it to learn first about an emergency? Well, while Police Officers and Firefighters are usually first on the scene, they need to get information about the emergency from somewhere – that’s where emergency dispatchers come in. They are the true “First Responders.” The ability to remain calm while talking to agitated and often panicked individuals, and the ability to extract vital information for the emergency services required, is a quality that has saved plenty of lives.
